The collection, titled Empire of Time, unfolded as a slow negotiation between California and Italy, with consolidation as its governing principle. After years of high-impact presentations, Villaseñor scaled back the format deliberately — pulling focus away from the fashion calendar and back toward the customer. “It’s an evolution of spring,” he said, candid about the strategic thinking behind the shift.

The philosophical underpinning was characteristically considered. “Everything is sociology,” Villaseñor said. “When someone asks me what I do, I’m a teller of the time. We log the zeitgeist. We log the data.” This season, he said, was about leading rather than reacting — even if that meant investing in pieces without immediate rack appeal. His ongoing project remains the same: blurring the line between comfort and ceremony without sacrificing either.

Fabrication made that argument in material terms. Italian wools sourced from Florence sat alongside Japanese indigo twill and herringbone. French terry became the base for what Villaseñor called a “traxedo” — a track pant engineered with the precision and intention of formal trousers. It’s a typically Rhude proposition: taking the logic of one world and applying it to another, finding the overlap between streetwear ease and tailored ceremony and insisting that the two don’t have to choose between themselves.

The recalibration feels like a designer who has decided he knows what he’s building and is no longer interested in proving it season by season. Va bene.
