For Spring 2027, Emilia Wickstead traded her traditional runway for a collection film staged inside her Sloane Street store, created in collaboration with restaurateur Jeremy King. The cinematic presentation explored not only how clothes are seen, but how they are actually lived in, moving models through a series of pastel rooms that shifted from lavender and powder blue to pale green and lemon yellow.

Wickstead looked to American Abstract Expressionist Lee Krasner, drawn to the artist’s independence and constant reinvention. Her influence appeared through painterly colour, an intentionally undone quality, and references to Krasner’s studio wardrobe. Wickstead’s familiar fit-and-flare dresses and architectural necklines were subtly reworked, including long pink silk and black chiffon dresses with adjustable asymmetrical bibs that could reveal or conceal the décolletage.

For the first time in a spring collection, Wickstead introduced lightweight cotton tweed, woven in beige, pink, and yellow inspired by Krasner’s 1956 painting Prophecy. Hand-painted leaf and field-daisy prints reflected the artist’s love of nature, while frayed chiffon trims added a deliberately unfinished edge.

The collection balanced structure with lightness. Tweed was paired with black chiffon, while chiffon panels and pleated inserts gave skirts and dresses a breezier feel suited to warmer summers. Feathers appeared for the first time, decorating a bias-cut tweed minidress, a striking yellow longline dress, and floral embellishments on yellow and black evening pieces.

Away from the formal gowns, oversized knits were layered over striped cotton artist shirts, while loose apron dresses could be worn relaxed or cinched at the waist. Fit-and-flare dresses even featured pockets designed, playfully, for paintbrushes.

By introducing new fabrics, adjustable silhouettes, feathered details, and more relaxed layers, Wickstead refreshed her signature vocabulary without abandoning its elegance. The result was a collection rooted in Krasner’s spirit of reinvention while offering her polished clientele more versatile ways to wear the Wickstead wardrobe.
