Swiss investor Arklyz acquires German shoe brand Gabor
The German footwear brand Gabor has been acquired by Swiss investment company Arklyz, which specializes in sports, clothing, and footwear. Previously family-owned and headquartered in Rosenheim, Gabor—known primarily for women’s shoes—will retain its brand name, and the current management team will remain in place.
Founded in 1919 in what is now Polish Upper Silesia, Gabor has been based in Rosenheim since 1966 and is one of Europe’s largest shoe manufacturers. In 2023, the company employed around 2,630 people, most of whom work in factories in Slovakia and Portugal, with just 366 based in Germany. That year, Gabor posted a net profit of €13.4 million on revenue of €282 million.
Arklyz, founded in 2018, also acquired the German shoe brand Lloyd last year, further expanding its presence in the European footwear market.
