Veejay Floresca took over The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad for her Fall/Winter 2026 collection presentation at NYFW, transforming the luxury setting into something more charged than a conventional runway — a statement about identity, evolution and who gets to occupy space in the modern fashion landscape.

The collection drew its creative energy from Willem de Kooning, translating the gestural intensity and layered textures of abstract expressionism into tactile, wearable form. Heavy knits, dimensional fabrics and sculptural finishes echoed the movement of a painter’s brushstroke — spontaneous in feeling but controlled in execution. Oversized, fluid silhouettes carried that same productive tension: commanding yet effortless, rooted in eveningwear and special-occasion dressing but stripped of any rigidity that might limit who can wear them or how.

Saturated colour, architectural draping and textural depth gave the collection a visual presence that didn’t need to announce itself twice. These were pieces built to be felt as much as seen.

Floresca — who made history as the first Filipino transgender woman to win Project Runway — was clear about what this season meant. “This collection celebrates my identity as a designer and defines the future of my brand,” she said, describing an elevated fashion house dedicated to eveningwear that honours diversity and champions inclusivity. With backing from the CFDA, her NYFW presentation carried weight beyond the clothes themselves, underscoring a broader shift in who gets to lead conversations about luxury and glamour.

Designed to celebrate beauty across all ages and sizes, the collection positioned Floresca firmly within the modern luxury conversation — sculptural, sensual and unapologetically inclusive. At NYFW, this wasn’t just eveningwear. It was a declaration of presence.
