At The Pool inside New York’s landmark Seagram Building—a place where quiet power has long met polished taste—Toteme returned to its roots. Founders Elin Kling and Karl Lindman, now based in Stockholm, once called New York home, and their Spring 2026 collection carried the nostalgia of that creative beginning. The setting, sleek and symmetrical, mirrored the brand’s own philosophy: a balance between order and ease.
“It feels very special and quite nostalgic,” Lindman said backstage, his tone reflecting the understated calm that defines Toteme. The duo’s vision this season was to distill beauty to its purest form—exact, but never rigid.
The collection unfolded like a meditation on modern restraint. Kling and Lindman explored texture and tactility: crinkled leathers, airy knits, and silk-satin trench coats that caught the light as models moved with quiet confidence. A palette of crisp whites and deep blacks anchored the show, lending clarity to their exploration of contrasts—control versus release, structure versus spontaneity.
Subtle acts of rebellion appeared in the details: raw-edged straps on delicate tanks, handbags worn open, and the relaxed layering of knits over transparent slips. Even in their undone gestures, the pieces retained a precise elegance—an echo of the brand’s Swedish minimalism refined by New York’s urban energy.
Toteme’s expanding accessories line took a thoughtful spotlight. The show featured T-lock bags, envelope clutches, and raffia carryalls that spoke to the brand’s evolving identity: pragmatic yet luxurious, architectural yet soft. As models wrapped themselves in Swedish lace cover-ups, carrying towels and knits that hinted at the shoreline, Kling teased the idea of swimwear—not as sport, but as an extension of lifestyle. “It’s something we’re exploring,” she noted, her words as measured as her designs.
In essence, Spring 2026 was a study in balance. Toteme’s quiet mastery lies in its ability to create clothes that feel both lived-in and elevated, merging intellect with instinct. Each piece whispered of craftsmanship and clarity—a reminder that true sophistication doesn’t shout; it hums in harmony with the wearer.
