In a season full of cultural noise, Modest Now x Muslimi delivered something quieter and more considered — a runway that placed modest fashion firmly within the global luxury conversation and made a compelling case that it belongs there.
The presentation united two American Muslim designers: Maryam Amaria of Amariah and Islam Mohamed El-Hoseiny of Athari Wear. Rather than positioning coverage as constraint, the show reframed it as a form of creative direction — proportion, layering and fabrication taking precedence over spectacle. The result felt grounded and intentional, offering a perspective that remains underrepresented at Fashion Week while reflecting the daily reality of millions of people worldwide.
Amariah: The Eid Edit
Maryam Amaria’s contribution — The Eid Edit — drew from her recent travels through the Middle East, translating memory, atmosphere and architectural warmth into a palette of plum, deep maroon, sage green and warm cream. Natural linen brought breathability, silk introduced fluid movement, and lace added subtle intricacy. Each silhouette was designed to stand independently, with varied cuts that avoided repetition and conveyed the sense of pieces thought through rather than simply produced.
The collection extends beyond Eid itself — designed for gatherings, dinners and meaningful occasions year-round, and built with longevity in mind. All pieces will be released in limited quantities with no guaranteed restock.
Athari Wear Fall/Winter 2026/2027
Islam Mohamed El-Hoseiny’s Athari Wear took a different but complementary direction — a unisex collection centred on legacy, identity and continuity. Drawing from Islamic heritage and contemporary street culture, the lineup featured elongated tailoring, structured outerwear and intentional layering, with higher necklines and generous proportions creating presence without excess.
Anchored in a black and white foundation with keffiyeh-inspired pattern work and sand-toned neutrals, the collection moved fluidly between streetwear and elevated design, embedding cultural and spiritual references within a modern framework. El-Hoseiny’s own story informs the brand’s ethos — born in New Jersey to Egyptian immigrant parents, he launched Athari Wear after being let go from a corporate fashion role for standing by his values, building the brand from the ground up through financial pressure and conviction.
Together, the two designers demonstrated the genuine breadth of modest fashion today. One approached it through softness and romantic refinement; the other through structure and cultural clarity. Both made the same argument: that modest design, executed with precision and creativity, carries undeniable impact.
