Luar’s Spring 2026 Ready-to-Wear collection was a striking celebration of Dominican culture, resilience, and modern luxury. Raúl Lopez transformed a raw, dimly lit venue into a stage of cultural storytelling, where every look reflected the spirit of the Dominican Republic’s oldest carnival. The show opened with sharp, black tailored looks—his-and-hers suits that set a tone of structure and precision.

Throughout the collection, Lopez drew deeply from the characters of Dominican carnival traditions, collaborating directly with local artisans. Techniques like the “Funduses” fringes—originally crafted from dried plantain leaves—were reinterpreted into high-fashion pieces such as a black-and-white printed plastic cape and a dramatic yellow collar with a honeycomb overlay. The standout laser-cut feather fabric woven over a yellow base offered a luxurious and modern reinterpretation of heritage craft.

A painterly red, yellow, and black print paid homage to “Los Pintaos,” while statement jewelry made from amber and larimar connected the looks to Dominican land and history. Lopez’s exploration of long, lean silhouettes with narrow trousers showcased his evolving design maturity.

More than a fashion show, this collection was a poetic reflection of identity, pride, and collective joy—an elegant love letter to Lopez’s roots and a testament to the beauty that emerges from cultural resilience.
