Edeline Lee has never been straightforward about her London Fashion Week slot, and this season, marking fifteen years of the brand, she outdid herself. Guests arrived at the sun-drenched rooftop bar of the Peninsula Hotel above Hyde Park expecting a runway show. What they got instead was a book launch.
The book, designed with fellow Central Saint Martins graduate and art director Kyung Roh Bannwart and edited by Nancy Durrant, traces every collection, show, activation and valued team member across the brand’s entire history. For a designer who has always been committed to local manufacturing, it mattered that the book itself reflected the same values, paper by James Cropper, printing by F E Burman, binding by Diamond Print Services. A small detail that says a lot: the fore edge of the book carries a pattern tracking the height of Lee’s son at every collection date across those fifteen years.
The fall 2026 collection itself was being shot live in the next room as guests mingled. Models then came in salon-style, moving among the curved booths and the sunny terrace rather than down a runway a format that suited the clothes, which are made for exactly this kind of real-world, inhabited elegance. A new buttery yellow debuted in a tiered skirt and sleeve combination that had an editorial energy to it. The sun-pleated midiskirt returned, as did the Pedernal dress in pebble-textured bubble jacquard signatures for a customer who knows what she wants and comes back for it in every new colour. Gold sequins appeared in a buoyant A-line ball gown; blue, rust and ivory tones ran through the rest. Fluted skirts, an elegant cape, silky draped blouses, the wardrobe of a woman with a packed international conference schedule and no patience for clothes that don’t do their job.
Last season’s knitwear entry affordably priced, FSC viscose, produced entirely in the UK continued into fall with mock necks and skin-baring knit dresses in cobalt and midnight blue. For an independent British designer, keeping production domestic is, as Lee put it, “one of the hardest but most fulfilling things we’ve done as a brand.” Up close, the quality made the point more eloquently than any statement could.
“The core of the brand is for women who need to show up, who want to feel comfortable and confident and powerful,” Lee said. Fashion Week, for her, is where the brand gets to stretch to play, to try things, to remind itself that serving a customer well and pushing creatively aren’t mutually exclusive. “It needs to feed us, but it also needs to excite us,” she said. Fifteen years in, she’s managing both.
