Eckhaus Latta presented a Spring 2027 collection that built on the label’s signature blend of casual essentials, experimental textures and understated sensuality, while introducing a more polished approach to everyday dressing. Designers Mike Eckhaus and Zoe Latta also used the occasion to unveil their latest collaboration with J.Crew, turning the runway presentation into a two-part event that combined independent design with accessible American fashion.
The show opened with Manila envelopes placed on guests’ seats, each printed with the instruction, “Do Not Open. Wait for Laughter.” The playful setup established a relaxed atmosphere among an audience that included established fashion critics and downtown New York’s creative community. The evening concluded with an after-party celebrating the designers’ new J.Crew partnership.
Sheer Layers, Textured Knits and Signature Denim
The main collection focused on familiar Eckhaus Latta staples, including T-shirts, knitwear and denim, reworked through thoughtful construction and material experimentation. A pencil skirt opened the show, its metallic threads creating a permanently crumpled appearance. Bias-cut T-shirts emphasized natural draping, giving a simple wardrobe essential a softer, more fluid silhouette.
Sheer fabrics played a prominent role throughout the collection. Stretch mesh appeared in layered tanks and tube dresses in contrasting colors, while lightweight, cloudlike shifts were designed to be worn over opaque slips and separates. Rather than relying on overt exposure, the pieces conveyed a relaxed sensuality that felt spontaneous and understated.
Denim remained one of the collection’s strongest elements. The designers revisited their recognizable low-slung, barrel-shaped jeans with twisting seams, maintaining the unconventional proportions and effortless attitude associated with the brand. At the same time, the collection explored more formal dressing through carefully constructed tailoring.
Men’s trousers featured a paper-bag waist, with a belt positioned across a partially unzipped fly to create an unexpected detail. A sharply fitted black suit further demonstrated the designers’ growing interest in refined menswear. The tailoring introduced a more sophisticated dimension without abandoning the label’s experimental character.
Eckhaus Latta and J.Crew Introduce a See-Now, Buy-Now Collection
The presentation took an unexpected turn when laughter entered the soundtrack, signaling the start of the second act. Guests opened their envelopes to discover confetti, which they were encouraged to throw as models walked past showcasing the new Eckhaus Latta x J.Crew collection.
Unlike the main runway offering, the collaboration leaned toward a younger, more conventional aesthetic, incorporating elements of preppy American style. The contrast appeared deliberate, allowing the designers to explore a broader audience while maintaining a distinct identity for their independent label.
The partnership followed the success of a rollneck sweater the designers created for J.Crew earlier in the year, which reportedly sold out within three hours. The response underscored the commercial potential of bringing Eckhaus Latta’s design sensibility to a larger retail audience.
The collaboration also reflects the label’s expansion in recent years, including the introduction of a handbag line. Latta made clear that the designers do not intend to remain confined to a small, specialized audience. Their ambition is to continue growing the business and reaching more consumers.
With Spring 2027, Eckhaus Latta demonstrated how its experimental roots can coexist with commercial partnerships and increasingly refined wardrobe staples. The collection maintained the label’s distinctive ease while opening new possibilities for its future, with the J.Crew collaboration offering a clear example of how the designers can extend their reach without abandoning their creative perspective.
