Badgley Mischka Embraces Italian Futurism for Fall/Winter 2023 Collection
Badgley Mischka’s latest fall/winter collection is a celebration of Futurism, the artistic and social movement that took place in early 20th century Italy. The designers, Mark Badgley and James Mischka, who have been known for their romantic aesthetic drew inspiration from Italian poet Filippo Tommaso Marinetti.
Inspired by the poet’s wish for “hap-hap-hap-happy garments,” they endeavored to produce just that. The collection exudes enthusiasm and joy due to the use of vibrant color combinations inspired by the five elements and the addition of flowery prints.
Badgley and Mischka’s latest collection has the same trademark romantic design they’ve been known for, but with an added burst of energy and dynamism meant to make their consumers feel positive and pleased. They did so by blending daring shapes with innovations, such as introducing Lurex to the chiffons and georgettes to give them more weight and shine.
The designers chose more modest looks than in past seasons, with each garment including only one striking feature. For example, the blue strapless dress with a transparent shoulder cape is perfect for the forthcoming Oscars since it is so simple and elegant.
The Badgley Mischka Fall/Winter 2023 Collection exemplifies the designers’ romantic futurist concept and meticulous attention to detail. Originality and inventiveness are bolstered by the designers’ use of ideas and images from a broad variety of sources, such as movies and other cultural traditions. New York Fashion Week FW23 had a really great showing this year.
