Latto On Grammys Night
It’s not surprising that Latto was nominated for Best New Artist at the Sunday Grammy Awards given that his song “Big Energy” was one of the hottest songs of the summer (cue: “Got that real big energy”). She had long wished to attend the celebrity-studded ceremony, but this was her first time. “As a kid, I would watch the Grammys on TV, knowing that I would attend one day!” The following day, Latto told Vogue. “It’s so crazy to be surrounded by such talented peers and witness history. It makes me feel like I’m doing something right.”
Latto still made the most of her exciting Grammys night, despite Samara Joy of the United States winning the Best New Artist prize. She cites meeting some fellow performers who she had long admired as her favourite moment. “I met Taylor Swift and she was so nice,” says Latto. “She told me she was a big fan and said not to worry, because she didn’t even win best new artist when she was nominated!”
Of course, dressing up for the evening was yet another memorable experience. For the red carpet, the celebrity chose a pink Dundas custom gown with sexy cutouts and an incredibly high slit. “I was going for the “less is more” look, and it came out exactly how I envisioned it,” Latto says. “Pink is my favourite colour, so that was the highlight of Grammy weekend to me, for sure!”
Latto won’t be taking any time off even once her first Grammys are over and done. She has already begun working on her upcoming musical projects. Latto hints “I have a new single coming very soon, paired with a bomb visual.” “I’m also performing at Coachella for the first time this summer, going on tour again with Lizzo, and have even been sitting with an acting coach.” “I’m just heating up,” she said.
