With effect from August 1, Markus Strobel, head of skin and personal care at the U.S. consumer goods major Procter & Gamble, withdrew from his position.

At the same time that Strobel is leaving P&G Beauty, Freddy Bharucha, who is now president of North American personal care and beauty operations, will take over as global president of personal care, responsible for Old Spice and Secret. Sue Kyung Lee, who is currently chief executive officer of SK-II, will become global president of P&G Skin Care, responsible for Olay and SK-II.

On July 1, they will both take over as P&G Beauty’s new CEO, reporting to Alex Keith.

Strobel began his career at Procter & Gamble in the home care division in 1991. He later moved to the beauty and grooming division, where he has held various managerial positions and built brands in the areas of fine fragrance, haircare, grooming, and skincare.

After a total of 33 years with P&G, he started his present role in 2017.

“Markus has been an incredibly successful leader of our skin and personal care businesses over the last six years,” Keith remarked, adding that his work on brands such as SK-II, Braun, and Pantene was already noteworthy.

“Unparalleled, robust growth across Olay, Old Spice, Secret, and more is a direct outcome of his influence on our worldwide skin and personal care businesses.”

Despite sluggish demand for skincare and cosmetics in China, P&G reported a 3.2% increase in net sales to $21.44 billion in the second quarter in its most recent trade update.
