Flowers—whether fresh or faux—are a constant presence in my life. From floral-patterned bedspreads and shower curtains to the ever-present bouquet on my kitchen table, they bring beauty and a sense of calm into my everyday space. My obsession with florals goes beyond decor, though; a peek into my bathroom vanity reveals an arsenal of tulip-powered skin-care products from Bloomeffects. My dry, sensitive skin drinks up every formula from the brand, an ELLE Future of Beauty award-winner that just landed at Ulta.

Tulips are natural humectants (meaning they act like moisture magnets), have cell regeneration properties, and boost collagen synthesis. When used in beauty formulas, this translates to more hydrated, youthful skin. Kim van Haaster, Bloomeffects’ founder and CEO, discovered these benefits after researching her family’s tulip crops on their fourth-generation farm in the Netherlands.

Bloom Effects

Using different parts of the superflower, the brand developed two science-backed complexes—the Proprietary Dutch Tulip Complex from the bulb and the Proprietary Black Tulip Complex from the petals—and infused them into formulas, along with other ethically sourced raw materials, to create a line of effective, sustainable skincare.

Now, you can shop every tulip-filled product at Ulta, from the editor-favorite Regenerative Serum to the retailer-exclusive Royal Tulip Elevate Crème. Here are just a few of my must-try products—no flight to Amsterdam needed.

Bloom Effects Royal Tulip Moisturising Nectar

One of van Haaster’s driving goals in founding Bloomeffects was to develop products gentle enough for her eczema-prone skin. As someone who also deals with flare-ups, I knew almost instantly that this multi-use salve would become one of my most-used products from the brand. It contains 30 percent glycerin for clinically proven plumping and barrier-building. I like to use the built-in tulip-shaped applicator to slather the ointment-to-serum formula on my lips, the sides of my nose, and my cuticles before bed. It’s also great for soothing skin after overusing a harsh active or undergoing an in-office skin treatment.

Bloomeffects Royal Tulip Elevate Creme

Ever since adding this moisturizer into my routine, my skin has felt supremely soft and supple. It has a luxurious, cushiony texture and contains the Proprietary Dutch Tulip Complex, ceramides and tripeptide, a moisture-boost complex, and vegan mucin. Together, these building blocks firm, smooth, nourish, boost collagen, rebuild the skin barrier, and provide lasting hydration.

A little goes a long way; I find that just two squirts from the bottle’s targeted nozzle applicator are enough to refresh my skin before makeup and give it a healthy-looking, lasting glow.

Bloomeffects Tulipscreen Dew Serum SPF 50

Tulipscreen Dew Serum SPF 50

$39 Ulta Beauty

When I want to minimize my morning routine and don’t feel like layering on a vitamin C serum, moisturizer, and SPF, the Dew Serum is my go-to. It’s a broad-spectrum mineral sunscreen that protects against UVA, UVB, and blue light rays; plumps skin with humectants; and fights free-radical skin damage with the antioxidant-rich Proprietary Dutch Tulip Complex. If you tend to skip daily sunscreen application because of the greasy feel or white cast, you’ll love that this formula settles into a soft-focus, velvety finish and comes in two slightly tinted shades: Glow and Bronze.

Bloomeffects Royal Tulip Hydrating Bi-Phase Tonic

$39 Ulta Beauty

This multi-benefit toner both balances and hydrates with ingredients like the moisturizing proprietary Dutch Tulip Complex, revitalizing niacinamide, detoxifying green tea and blue gardenia, and a soothing Hydramilk blend that includes colloidal oats.

Simply shake to combine the dual-phase formula, then pat onto skin using your fingers or a cotton pad. I like to also mix a few drops with foundation for a dewy boost.

Bloomeffects Black Tulip Regenerative Serum

Black tulips boast the highest flavonoid count of any other variety, making them a potent source of antioxidants. This serum harnesses the brand’s Proprietary Black Tulip Complex and Dutch Tulip Complex alongside exosomes and targeted drone technology copper peptides that quickly deliver these active ingredients deep into your skin. The result is smoother, firmer, more even-looking skin with a noticeable glow. Because my skin is sensitive, I stopped using retinol altogether when testing this; if your skin is less reactive, try alternating the two in your nighttime routine.
