Marni names Stefano Rosso as CEO

Marni, Diesel, Maison Margiela, Jil Sander, and Viktor & Rolf are all part of the Italian fashion group’s portfolio, which Stefano Rosso now heads up as CEO. This is only the latest stop on Rosso’s rise up the ranks at OTB. Being the son of OTB founder and president Renzo Rosso, Stefano brings a great deal of knowledge and skill to his new position.

Stefano Rosso takes over from Barbara Calò as CEO of Marni, a crucial post that she has held since November 2019, and will continue to lead the company’s growth and evolution. The reasons behind Calò’s departure are yet unknown, but OTB thanked her for her services and stated that she would help Stefano during this transitional period.

The hiring of Stefano Rosso, who will report directly to Ubaldo Minelli, CEO of OTB, demonstrates OTB’s dedication to enhancing Marni’s leadership and making the most of its potential within the company. Minelli spoke highly of Marni’s contribution to OTB’s expansion and confided in Stefano’s leadership skills to continue the brand’s success.

Stefano Rosso has been with OTB since 2005, marking his career in the fashion sector. He was born in 1979. Stefano, who received his fashion degree from New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology, has worked his way up the production, marketing, and sales ladders at Diesel and OTB. A member of OTB’s board of directors, he also has other responsibilities.

Notably, Stefano Rosso is not only the president of Maison Margiela since 2023 (following in the footsteps of his father, Renzo Rosso), but he also concurrently controls BVX, OTB’s subsidiary focused on virtual reality initiatives. His leadership responsibilities extend beyond Marni. Despite juggling several roles in his career, Stefano is set to focus on elevating Marni’s luxury positioning and increasing the brand’s international visibility.

Recognizing Stefano’s many responsibilities, Renzo Rosso voiced faith in his son’s capacity to raise Marni’s status in the high-end fashion industry. Thanks to Stefano’s global perspective and creative ideas, Renzo thinks Marni will reach more people and continue to be a special brand loved by artists and fashionistas all over the world.

The fashion house Marni has been expanding steadily since Francesco Risso took over as creative director in 2016, and in 2023, sales increased by 8.6 percent. Recreating its timeless allure and worldwide resonance, the brand is expanding with the launch of 16 new locations and a 20-year renewal of its beauty license with Coty. The relevance of Marni within the fashion environment is shown by Renzo Rosso’s appreciation for the brand’s originality and its committed following.
