Mulberry has reported strong sales growth for the first half of its financial year, with rising demand in the United States, successful product launches and improved full-price sales helping the British luxury brand sustain its recovery.

In a trading update published on October 19, the company said group sales increased by 18.1% at actual exchange rates and 18.2% at constant currency over the 26 weeks ending in late September. The performance reflects continued progress under its “Back to the Mulberry Spirit” strategy, which focuses on strengthening the brand, refining its product offering and improving customer engagement.

US Market Records Strongest Growth

The United States emerged as Mulberry’s strongest major market, with sales climbing 28% year on year and 34% on a like-for-like basis. Growth was supported by increased customer demand, positive digital performance, the launch of Bloomingdale’s Marketplace and an expanded wholesale presence.

In the UK, sales rose 10%, or 9% on a like-for-like basis. Revenue in Europe excluding the UK increased by 23%, with like-for-like growth reaching 21%. Across Asia Pacific, total sales grew 5%, while like-for-like sales rose 24%.

Franchise and wholesale sales increased by 52%, reflecting stronger demand through third-party retail channels. These channels accounted for 17% of total sales during the period, compared with 16% a year earlier.

New Collections Strengthen Product Momentum

Mulberry attributed its performance to sustained demand across both seasonal collections and established product lines. Newer offerings, including Raffia, Crochet, Stevie and the Darley Camera Bag, performed particularly well, while signature styles such as the Bayswater and Lily continued to attract customers.

The brand also benefited from increased visibility following the Mulberry by Christopher Kane runway show at London Fashion Week. The presentation marked a significant step in Mulberry’s return to ready-to-wear and generated stronger customer engagement across its stores, digital platforms and retail partners.

Although Kane’s debut Spring/Summer 2027 collection has yet to contribute fully to sales, the show has already helped raise the brand’s profile.

Mulberry also maintained its focus on selling products at full price rather than relying heavily on discounts. Excluding certain markdown activity, promotional sales accounted for a 300-basis-point smaller share of sales than in the previous year’s comparable period, supporting gross margin performance.

CEO Highlights Progress Despite Market Challenges

Chief executive Andrea Baldo said the results reflected the work undertaken over the past year to refocus the business on its products, brand identity and customers, while maintaining disciplined trading and cost management.

He noted that both established product lines and newer introductions had helped broaden the company’s appeal and attract new customers. The Christopher Kane collaboration and the return to London Fashion Week also marked important moments in celebrating Mulberry’s British heritage.

Despite the positive results, the company acknowledged that trading conditions remain challenging. It plans to build on its progress with a strong product pipeline and continued investment in brand desirability.

Mulberry is scheduled to publish its full half-year results on November 19, when further details about its financial performance and recovery strategy are expected to become available.
