Matcha-themed sneakers have been a surprisingly enduring microtrend in recent years, appearing on shoes from brands including New Balance and Nike SB. One label the popular Japanese drink has yet to percolate into is Jordan Brand, but that will soon change with the reported arrival of a new two-sneaker set in 2027.
According to @zsneakerheadz and Sneaker Files, an Air Jordan 3 Retro OG Matcha Pack is on the schedule for spring ’27. Coming in Summit White/Multi-color/Multi-color (style code JJ1473-100) and Chlorophyll/Multi-color/Multi-color (style code JJ1473-300) looks, the duo will reportedly include a white-based iteration alongside a predominantly green look.
The white-based Air Jordan 3 Retro OG Matcha is said to be a spin on 2001’s Mocha Air Jordan 3, which featured coffee-like brown accents on its heel and toe elephant print panels along with brown branding and outsoles. An early speculative mock-up of the upcoming Air Jordan 3 features near-identical color blocking, which replaces the Mocha’s brown hue with a Chlorophyll green for a familiar look that also taps into current pop culture trends with its matcha inspiration.
Alongside the white-based version is a style which will reportedly dial up the matcha theme even further, covering the entirety of the Air Jordan 3’s upper in a Chlorophyll green shade. White is the only accent color expected on the pair, appearing on the sneaker’s midsole, heel and TPU eyelets.
In addition to the Matcha Pack, the Air Jordan 3’s rare unreleased Khaki sample will receive a retail release next year. And for purists, the model’s original White Cement colorway is expected to return without the vintage-inspired Reimagined treatment seen on its most recent 2023 release.
The Air Jordan 3 Retro OG Matcha Pack is currently set to be released on May 1, although it’s possible the launch date could shift between now and then. Retail pricing has not yet been confirmed, but the pairs will likely be priced around $215 each.
