Luxury fashion brand Maje is elevating its commitment to sustainability through an exclusive capsule handbag collection crafted from deadstock leather. This initiative is the result of a collaboration with Adapta, a French start-up that specializes in sourcing and repurposing surplus materials from high-end brands. By giving premium leather a second life, Maje is demonstrating that fashion can be both stylish and environmentally responsible.

A Collaboration with Purpose

Maje, a well-known French fashion house under the SMCP Group, has long been recognized for its chic, modern aesthetic. Now, the brand is making a significant step toward sustainability by teaming up with Adapta. Founded in 2018 by Virginie Ducatillon, Adapta aims to bridge the gap between luxury and eco-conscious production. Ducatillon envisions a fashion industry where high-quality materials are reused rather than wasted, ensuring that luxury remains synonymous with responsibility.

“Collaborating with Maje demonstrates that desirability, innovation, and sustainability can coexist,” Ducatillon stated. This collection serves as proof that ethical fashion does not require sacrificing style or quality.

Launching in mid-March 2025, the collection will feature three of Maje’s signature handbag designs: the Miss M, the M Bag, and the Mini M Bag. These timeless pieces will be crafted in Italy using carefully selected deadstock leather, guaranteeing premium quality while reducing environmental impact. With only 100 pieces available per design, these handbags will be sought-after collector’s items.

Where and When to Get the Collection

Fashion enthusiasts in Europe and the U.S. can purchase the collection through Maje’s online platforms and select retail boutiques. The limited-edition handbags will be priced between €275 and €335, a competitive range for luxury accessories made with sustainability in mind.

In recent years, the brand has introduced second-hand fashion projects and repair services, reinforcing its commitment to reducing fashion waste.
