Sylvester Stallone to auction $2.5 million: An ultra-rare Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime watch, which originally sold for approximately $2.5 million, is one of eleven watches that Rocky actor Sylvester Stallone will be auctioning off at Sotheby’s on June 5. The only prior commercial auction of a Grandmaster Chime was a 2019 charity sale of a steel model, which brought in $31 million. This auction will be the first of its kind.

With twenty complications, Stallone’s Grandmaster Chime is Patek Philippe’s most intricate wristwatch to date. The white-gold timepiece can keep tabs on two time zones, has a perpetual calendar, and five distinct chiming modes. The watch is brand new, never worn by Stallone, and it comes with a fancy presentation box with cuff links, an iPad in a Patek Philippe leather case, and other accessories.

Although it may sell for more, Sotheby’s has set the price range of $2.5–$5 million for Stallone’s Grandmaster Chime. A number of high-quality timepieces, including those from Piaget, Audemars Piguet, Cartier, Rolex, and Panerai—among which is the clock that Sylvester Stallone wore in the sequel to the Expendables film—will be up for auction.

For Stallone, a lifelong watch collector, the auction is a chance to sell a piece of jewelry he has cherished for a long time. He uses the analogy of a Monet picture to describe Grandmaster Chime. Among Stallone’s valuable possessions are prestigious Nautilus models and important items from other high-end labels.

The success of the auction was attributed by Geoff Hess, head of watches for the Americas at Sotheby’s, to his strong friendship with Stallone. Particularly influential in increasing awareness of Panerai have been the actor’s connections to the company. In a non-charity auction, Hess intends to break the record for a contemporary watch, highlighting the importance of Stallone’s collection to the world of watch-collecting.
