WOVEN CRAFT: Jonathan Anderson’s namesake label JW Anderson is set to debut the Basket bag, a new style handcrafted from British willow, at Salone del Mobile.Milano, in collaboration with English sculptor and basketmaker Eddie Glew.

The artist previously created a series of larger baskets for JW Anderson’s fall 2026 collection, pushing traditional willow work into the realm of contemporary design.

Debuting at the world’s largest high-end design trade show will be a series of bag-sized handwoven pieces finished with chocolate vegetable‑tanned leather, inspired by medieval storage chests.

“Working in collaboration is different for me, but it’s something I’m really enjoying. Working with the wonderful team at JW Anderson has been a genuine pleasure,” said the Staffordshire-based Glew, who
spent years learning basketmaking from his late father before gaining a full scholarship to study under expert basketmaker Sally Goymer through the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust.

“They understand the importance of heritage crafts and take a real interest in the making itself, not just the outcome. That makes the work feel considered and worthwhile,” he added.

During the week in Milan, Glew will stage a live demonstration at the JW Anderson flagship on
Via Sant’Andrea carving flowers from a single piece of wood using only a shave horse, draw knife and his hands. Guests will receive one of these individually crafted flowers presented in protective packaging with an informational postcard.

The flowers trace back to a Romany tradition, one of the first skills Glew learned from his late father: shaping blooms from hedgerow wood with just a pocketknife.
