Now Ted Baker’s US partner is said to be eyeing UK and Europe ops
Now Ted Baker’s US partner is said: The news broke that OSL, Ted Baker’s US partner, is reportedly contemplating a comparable move, adding to the rumors that Next and Frasers Group are interested in purchasing the brand’s retail holdings in the UK and Europe.
According to a Sky News story, OSL is reportedly the front-runner to take over Ted Baker’s defunct European operations, which included a large number of British outlets. OSL has been overseeing Ted Baker’s American operations since last year.
After its No Ordinary Designer label (NODL) retail division in the UK and Europe collapsed, administrator Teneo revealed this week that one-third of Ted Baker’s UK locations will close.
Authentic Brands Group owns the Ted Baker brand, but it uses a network of partners to carry out its global activities. Dutch group AARC, which had been running NODL for the previous year, ran into cash flow issues and major difficulty in an increasingly tough market.
The remaining UK stores, the brand’s online site, and the European retail arm must now be operated by a business that Authentic Brands Group has appointed.
Reputable UK-based acquisition businesses Next and Frasers Group are allegedly competing with OSL for the opportunity. Both businesses are reportedly still in the running for the transaction, according to Sky.
Even if AARC is having a tough time of it, Ted Baker is still a highly sought-after brand. Many astute companies are interested in acquiring the brand, and they’re all sure they can turn it around in Europe.
