Julien Schneider Assumes Leadership Role: Cosmetics retailer L’Occitane en Provence has appointed Julien Schneider as managing director France. Schneider was previously appointed CEO of French premium menswear brand Balibaris in January 2022. According to Schneider’s LinkedIn profile, the hiring was confirmed by industry publication LSA, which broke the news first.

Before joining Balibaris, Schneider spent six years at Lacoste, where he was most prominently the vice president of retail and digital for North America from 2019 to 2022. He is an expert in e-commerce. Schneider was the director of e-commerce and marketing at Fnac Spectacles/France Billet and the leader of Fnac’s online and mobile operations for four years before joining Lacoste.

Established in 1976 with the goal of “reconciling mankind with nature,” L’Occitane en Provence is the flagship brand and store of the L’Occitane group, which also encompasses Sol de Janeiro and Melvita. L’Occitane en Provence surpassed €1 billion in revenues in the first nine months of the group’s non-standard 2023-24 fiscal year, but the company saw a 2.6% decline due to falling sales in Europe and the travel retail channel.

Laurent Marteau was appointed to the combined position of chief executive officer and managing director in an effort to restructure the L’Occitane group’s top hierarchy in early January.
