Dover Street Market to open first concept store in Paris
Dover Street Market to open first concept: Rei Kawakubo and Adrian Joffe’s Dover Street Market is preparing to reach a major milestone with the debut of its first real concept store in Paris. The flagship, located at 35-37 rue des Francs-Bourgeois in the lively Marais neighborhood, is set to open its doors on April 27, offering a one-of-a-kind shopping experience.
In 2021, Dover Street Market set up shop in Paris, France. The 3,500 square meter Marais building had been a showroom and office space for the company at the time. Brand Development, an arm of DSM that supports up-and-coming brands including Vaquera, Airei, and ERL, is also housed on the premises.
The building at 35-37 previously housed a number of projects and partnerships selected by the co-founders of DSM before it was transformed into a full-fledged concept shop. It used to be a famous bookstore that dates back to 1909, but in the last two years it has played host to pop-up stores, art workshops, runway events, and more.
Along with the Dover Street Parfums Market, which caters to beauty fans, the Dover Street Little Market, a store devoted to new designers, has recently acquired a temporary home at 35-37. The Marais district now has a more lively DSM presence because to these ventures.
At the same time, Comme des Garçons, which is headed by Rei Kawakubo, strengthened its presence in Paris by moving its flagship store to a street-front location at 56 rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré in the fall of 2023.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Dover Street Market, a London-based concept retail chain that opened in 2004 and now has locations in Tokyo, New York, Beijing, Singapore, and London. A chosen assortment of up-and-coming and renowned designers will be on display at the upcoming flagship in Paris, in addition to the avant-garde designs from Comme des Garçons.
Loverboy, the daring and eclectic label created by British designer Charles Jeffrey, is one of the highlighted labels. As part of the celebration, Loverboy will showcase a new take on its signature suits, hand-picked by Rei Kawakubo from the label’s past.
Dover Street Market’s expansion into Paris is just the latest example of how the company is changing the face of retail by providing an unmatched combination of modern style, inventive architecture, and artistic expression.
