Krans is responsible for supervising the in-house media publisher at the New York-based corporation, which is tasked with facilitating the connection between advertising partners and the clients of Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s.

Close scrutiny reveals that Macy’s Media Network satisfies the company’s clientele with uplifting, tailored content and employs tactics driven by cross-category analytics to construct unique media plans that propel company narratives and objectives.

Krans comes to Macy’s from Walmart Connect, where he oversaw the fashion team and collaborated with colleagues across the company to increase revenue with the largest apparel suppliers. His previous experience was in leading sales and marketing teams that specialized in digital media, e-commerce, and publishing.

At Hearst and Condé Nast, two of the most prominent publishers in the industry, he oversaw advertising, marketing, and revenue growth projects, particularly in the retail, home, beauty, and fashion sectors.

Max Magni, Macy’s chief customer and digital officer, will be Krans’s boss in his new position.

Michael, we are thrilled to have you join Macy’s, Inc. His more than 20 years of expertise in sales and marketing make him an ideal leader for our expanding retail media network, according to Magni.

“Macy’s Media Network offers marketers a multitude of opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of their media campaigns by connecting them with highly engaged customers across Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s, making it one of the leading platforms for advertisers in the retail industry.”

The move follows Macy’s announcement a few weeks ago that it intends to eliminate 150 underperforming stores as part of its efforts to fend off takeover bids from two activist companies.
