New York Fashion Week is back, so bring out the fabrics, the cameras, the influencers, and the celebs!

The first of two significant fashion seasons in 2023 where American designers showcase their most recent collections is slated to begin on February 10 with a few shows taking place ahead of time.

Returning designers like Sergio Hudson, Christian Siriano, Proenza Schouler, and Brandon Maxwell, as well as first-timers to New York Fashion Week Kate Barton, Heron Preston, and Zimo, will all be showcasing their Fall/Winter 2023 collections during the February week of fashion.

Here is a complete guide to NYFW 2023.

When does New York Fashion Week occur?

According to the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s calendar, NYFW runs from February 10 through February 15. There are some pre-calendar activities, such as performances by Victor de Souza and Christian Siriano. In addition, Siriano opened September’s fashion week in 2022 with a special Spring/Summer 2023 show before the events.

For the February week of fashion, Rodarte is the first of 74 brands on the CFDA calendar to present a runway show of its new collections. The week will come to an end on February 15 at 8 p.m. with a show by Luar, the CFDA’s 2022 accessories designer of the year.

You can see the whole programme for New York Fashion Week here, as well as the calendar for the Council of Fashion Designers. The other three big fashion weeks in the world are in Milan, London, and Paris, with NYFW being one of them.

What does fashion week aim to accomplish?

New York Fashion Week has a long history of serving as a platform for showcasing designers’ works through presentations and runway shows for fashion media and shop buyers. The performances took place under white tents at Bryant Park in Midtown Manhattan from 1993 to 2009. They then moved further uptown to Lincoln Center in 2010, and finally to their current location downtown at Spring Studios in 2015.

Editors, buyers, celebrities, and customers can preview the collections at the events each season.

Which famous people will be present at New York Fashion Week?

While the fashion week guest list is typically kept under lock and key, celeb watchers can anticipate that the stars that are getting the most buzz will attend events. But it’s safe to assume that Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, will watch some of the performances from the front row.

In the past, shows have featured Travis Barker playing the drums, Janet Jackson appearing, and Kardashian sightings.

How do I go to NYFW?

Although there are opportunities if you want to get a sneak peek at the newest collections, many NYFW presentations are invite-only.

On Runway360, the Council of Fashion Designers of America will stream runway performances. Theo, Black Boy Knits, and Lapointe will all be presenting exhibitions that can only be seen on digital platforms.

The website for New York Fashion Week lists a number of options and packages for on-location experiences, some of which include backstage access and personal styling.
