Jumpsuits are a thing of beauty. They can be simple, fun and frolic for a girls brunch out or elegant and smart for a formal dinner party. That is till you sip on a cocktail too many and are stuck in the ladies room sitting on a drafty stall with a naked chest. Having heard enough complaints about this numerous bars,Shannon Ashford decided to take the issues in her own hand. She worked for a year to find a solution to this problem. The solution was an open, overlapping side seam with a drop-down seat. With this she launched Tom Foolery.

Shannon Ashford creates and designs all the jumpsuits on her own in her parent’s garage. One can also get their jumpsuits customized according to your own size. Recently, Tom Foolery recently was part of a selected group of approved designers of The Council of Aspiring American Fashion Designers (CAAFD) during the New York Fashion Week Fall. Their’s was the opening act with a 12 piece collection which has got the ball going for them. They showcased cocktail jumpsuits/dress that exhibit class and elegance. The designs received raving reviews from the audience and the critics alike. These are not some fancy jumpsuits you could wear once and hide them in the closet. These are fashionable pieces of clothing which are easy and  comfortable to wear for the working and outgoing women. After all, there is no other company doing drop seat jumpsuits and rompers yet.

The creator of these, Shannon Ashford is a SoCal native most likely to be found with her bare feet in the sand quoting Will Ferrell comedies. Her curiosity has taken her around the world, up mountaintops, down sea caves, and out of open plane hatches. Always finding the light in others, her goal is to dress you to match the beauty within. She describes these rompers as the perfect manifestation of the energy and adventure of a tomboy packaged as a classy lady. Her brand’s goal was not just to make visually appealing garments but to maintain the integrity in the production process too. All her fabrics are are made from plastic bottles collected in Haiti. She has been able to help in the re-usage of around 1200 of plastic bottles till now. She also works with fabric companies which employees locals and provides them with a fair wage and benefits. By using recycled material and ethically employing skilled sewers, she wants to set an example of a clothing brand that can positively benefits its employees, it’s customers, as well as the environment.

They have also started doing tee shirts which are unisex. But for now, this up and coming fashion brand is working hard to make garments which are both ethical and fun. It’s a combination the fashion world direly needs.
