Spring/Summer 2020 Collection at NYFW: Concept Korea
Concept Korea is a fashion show sponsored by the government of Korea with the aim to showcase and help eminent Korean designers promote themselves outside their native country. This season the focus was on three designers who presented their Spring/Summer 2020 Collections at the New York Fashion Week: LIE, IISE, LEYII.
LIE (Life is Expression) provides modern women’s wear with their playful take on masculine-feminine duality. Their Collection had used bold colors and elevated silhouettes. There was a variety of materials used in the collection. One could see the soft features which gave the collection a romantic vibe.
IISE incorporates street interpretation pieces from Korean Culture. The pieces are made exclusively in Seoul. The brand reinterprets the concept of ‘Chaebol,’ a tradition specific to South Korea, representing family owned companies. The designer duo Terrance Kin and Kevin Kim use combinations of Korean fabrics and techniques and mix of traditional and modern design aesthetics to bring something new from the east side of the world.
Rounding up the designer from Concept Korea was LEYII. It is a contemporary brand on women’s femininity. For the Spring/Summer 2020 Collection they presented their collection, “Blossoming flower, blossoming love.” They wanted to portray the synergy between the beauty of a blooming flower and a woman on the cusp of falling in love. LEYII used natural draping’s in their minimal and unique designs to put their point across to their audience.
