Oscar de la Renta bring Southern Spain to NYFW

Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia decided to present a collection inspired by their travels from around the world. The ball started rolling when they visited Dubai last year. They chose to show a mix of cultures from Morocco and Spain for the Fall’19 Showcasing. But they chose Grand Mosque of Córdoba in Andalusia, Southern Spain as the main focal point for their collection this year. Layers of both Islamic and Christian could be very well seen in the pieces Kim and Gracia designed and presented. Motifs in rich earthy hues formed the palette for the pieces of Oscar de la Renta.

The show opening piece was what has most of the times been an Oscar de la Renta’s piece – a suit but it had a twist to it. Instead of picking a proper ladies suit, this piece had glen plaids over black pants. Antique carpentry inspired pieces were another highlight for the collection. The collection was not dominated for the gowns Oscar de la Renta has been so famous for except for the closing. Bella Hadid closed the show in a black velvet gown adorned with Islamic decorations as a nod to the Islamic Culture in grand proportions.
