Helmut Lang at the NYFW

Helmut Lang is once again in reinvention mode. Mark Howard Thomas, the creative director of Helmut Lang’s Men and Women wear has been given the task to do so. He along with Thomas Cawson (creative director of Helmut Lang Jeans) returned to the runway after a year an a half with a collection that was minimalist and had a utilitarian aesthetic.

The palette was mostly grey, black and whites with pops of red and hot pink thrown in the mixture. The collection saw a softer collection for the working woman in refined tailoring. Jeans, slip dresses, sweaters and parkas dominated the runaway. There were also denim jackets paired with pants for men. The collection was overall ell received and reminded of the times when Lang held the reigns of the company in the 90’s.
