When Gucci released it’s Pre-fall’19 collection in December, it was a very simple unveiling. 86 beautifully dressed mannequins just displayed in their Milan studio. There was no one from the design team to explain  the collection. There were no press notes to give editors and reporters clarity. The man himself, Alessandro Michele was not present. The tailoring details were refined with a mix of pattern and color and took one back to the 80’s.

Fast forward a few months, and once can see two different series of photo shoots launched in the month of April and May for its Pre- fall’19 collection. For the April series of photo shoot, we see Michele’s homage to the ancient Greek culture. Shot by Glen Luchford at the background of the temples of the Selinute Archaeological Park in Sicily, the series takes us back to the time when people would gather after banquets to chat, dance, mingle and have fun. Giving this banquet a modern twist, Michele brought hardcore punks, body builders, roller bladders and surfers dressed in brightly patterned Gucci wear to reignite that spirit for their Pre-Fall 2019 campaign.

Another series for the Pre-fall’19 Campaign came out in May. It showed showed Harry Styles in the lead for #GucciTailoring. The campaign is creatively visualized by creative director, Alessandro Michele. It is shot by Harmony Korine and art directed by Christopher Simmonds. The series depict Michele’s taste for the uncoventional and antique and the news menswear formal collection is described as “contemporary layered with bright colors”
