Fall’19 Couture: Alexis Mabille
Alexis Mabille titled his Fall’19 Couture Collection Tête-à-Tête as he went back to the basics of couture. “I wanted to get back to the very essence of couture, which is about a personal relationship between the designer and the client,” Mabille explained. Couture, back in the day was never about ready-to-wear pieces, but about customizing an outfit according to the fancies of a particular client. The designer used the glided salon of 19th Century mansion’s Fondation Dosne-Thiers in Paris instead of the runway.
Alexis Mabille had no particular silhouette in mind while creating his Fall’19 Collection. Instead, he used his vast clientele as an inspiration to play with the contrasts of minimalist – maximal and introvert-extrovert. The diverse collection was just that – diverse, in every sense possible. Every piece had a different shape and silhouette. One could find sleek pieces along with bustier pieces, there were capes trailing corsets and dresses. There was a wrap dress alongside a collared blouse with a pleated skirt. One could find elements of elegance, romance, grand gestures along with a little bit of wit in Alexis Mabille’s Fall’19 Collection. It was a joyful collection indeed!
