“Couture, aussi pour le jour”

With this and Paris as his vision in mind, Alexandre Vauthier’s Fall’19 Collection and the whole show could find hints and inspiration from the glamorous fashion city of the world, Paris. The soundtrack was from the eighties band, Taxi girl. The scent, a reminiscent of the tuberose scent created by Francis Kurkdjian. The silhouettes perfectly tailored, just as the French like it. In short the whole collection was a trip down the memory lane for Vauthier as he traced what made him want to be a designer. Backstage before the Fall’19 runway show, the designer was quoted as saying:

“I wanted to reference the images, the silhouettes that seduced me as a child, everything that made me want to make fashion. Lesage, pleating, ruffles, there’s incredible work on the clothes. Couture is, in essence, this: the showcase for specialty skills that are quintessentially French, and Parisian.”

The Fall’19 Collection was subtle, i.e. it was not over done in embellishments. The palette for the collection was black, white and pastel shades of sky pink and light blue. There was a bit of hand-painted floral work to give the collection a light, sweet and romantic vibe. There were boxed jackets and tailored pants giving it a touch of the 80’s. Skirts ,ruffle front shirts, jersey and sultry dresses rounded up the collection.
