Fall 2019 Couture: Maison Francesco Scognamiglio

Francesco Scognamiglio showed his love for the island of Capri by dedicating a collection to the island for the Fall’ 19 Maison Francesco Scognamiglio Couture Collection. Aptly titled ‘Capri Muse’, the collection pays homage to “a place of incredible beauty and elegance but also of freedom and scandals,” as said by Scognamiglio himself.

“Jackie Kennedy used to promenade barefoot and Brigitte Bardot sported outrageous décolletages here without anyone raising an eyebrow”

The collection depicted traits from the island and was both sensual and depicted a sense of freedom. The color palette was of turquoise, deep blue, delicate pink, whites, blacks and silver with a lot of sequence work. The collection comprised of gowns and dresses. The work was a combination of restraint and a little excess. The sequential gowns had mermaid-like feel whereas the white wedding dress was inclined towards the traditional Capri fishermen traditional dresses.  Scognamiglio tried showing the traditional culture of the island with a sense of freedom.

The designer plans on holding a special invite-only Maison Francesco Scognamiglio show for his VIP guests in the month of August as part of his plans to promote his beloved island of Capri and narrow the gap between the island and his fashion house.
