Cynthia Rowley: A Fun, Flirty & Retro Fashion at NYFW
Cynthia Rowley had sworn off runways until she made a comeback with them this year for the Fall’19 Collection at the NYFW. The designer staged this year’s runway show by the indoor pool of a private residence at the London Terrace Towers. The collection had silhouettes from the ’70s and had a fun, flirty and retro vibe to it. Other than the knitwear, dresses and other pieces, Rowley also launched her new shoe collection with eyewear and jewelry collection said to be in the pipeline. The collection was a far cry from depicting just the winter or fall season as 12 models jumped right into the swimming pool dressed in wet suits for a final walk.
“Art is always an inspiration. I was thinking about the Warhol sunset series and how the sun is always rising and always setting somewhere in the world. I sometimes feel like we’re in a bubble in New York Fashion Week, and people think it’s Fall and we have to show wool, but there’s a blizzard here and 100 degrees in Australia, and we’re a global brand. The seasons don’t really matter, which is why I wanted to show wetsuits now.” Cynthia Rowley told The Daily.
