Brandon Maxwell: Fall 2020 Collection
Brandon Maxwell knows how to give that extra edge to his shows to make them unique. This season Brandon Maxwell became the first designer to hold a fashion show at the American Museum of Natural History in the Bernard Hall of North American Mammals. The designer had his cheer team in the form of Lexi Brumback and Gabi Butler – the stars of the Netflix series “Cheer.” They hooted and hollered so loudly that the models on the runway couldn’t help but chuckle at the stars before resuming their role on the runway. It gave the whole show an enjoyable and warm feel. Talking about his collection Brandon Maxwell said that, this season, he was, “Thinking deeply about those wardrobing items that are made to last.”
The collection was excellent, to say the least, though there were a couple of misses in his eveningwear collection. There were less precision and finesse in his gown. We are not really sure if it is a new trend to let go and be a little loose or just the result of doing too much at once. The daywear collection or his sportswear version for both men and women felt like it fitted right in. The leather pants with biker jackets, shirt dresses, and corduroy suits were on point. It looked like he was absolutely comfortable in the men’s department, even though it is new territory for him. In the eveningwear, he nailed the black liquid silk cocktail dress. We were in complete awe of it. His finale piece, the red gown, was absolutely on fire. But one cannot help but imagine that he could have done a bit more when it came to his eveningwear collection.
