FILIPINXT: Celebrating Filipino Fashion and Craftsmanship at NYFW FW2025

The world of fashion was recently introduced to an exciting new showcase of Filipino creativity at New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2025 with FILIPINXT. This groundbreaking event brought the Philippines’ finest designers to the global stage, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern elegance. Organized by the Philippine Consulate in New York and Kalye NYC, FILIPINXT marked a significant milestone for Filipino fashion, proving its place in the international industry.

A Landmark Moment for Filipino Designers

As part of the official NYFW.com lineup, FILIPINXT showcased the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines through contemporary fashion. Led by Rob Mallari-D’Auria, a lawyer-entrepreneur, and Bessie Besana, a celebrated designer, the event aimed to elevate Filipino talent onto the world stage. With support from key partners such as Hwangs Inc., New York Makeup Academy, Angkla Resort, and Travel Warehouse Inc., FILIPINXT was meticulously curated to highlight the immense creativity within the Philippine fashion industry.

“FILIPINXT is more than just a runway show; it’s a movement,” Besana shared. “This initiative is about proving that our fashion belongs in the global conversation.”

A Stunning Display of Craftsmanship

Each designer participating in FILIPINXT brought a unique perspective, merging Filipino heritage with modern fashion trends.

Bessie Besana’s “Rays of Twilight” captivated with ethereal formal and bridal wear. Featuring delicate fabrics like Chantilly lace, silk, and tulle, the collection exuded romance and sophistication, perfect for weddings and elegant occasions.

Gabby Garcia of Tagpi presented “Tahak,” a seamless blend of tradition and contemporary design. By incorporating handwoven Filipino fabrics, tweed, wool, and crochet, Garcia created a fusion of tropical influences and New York street style. The designer’s signature blues and whites invoked the ocean’s tranquility, reflecting the adaptability of Filipino culture.

Jasmine Baac’s “Bagoyan Rising” stood out with its tribute to the Kalinga community. Earth-toned fabrics in reds, terracotta, and black were paired with Italian cotton and handwoven textiles, creating a striking combination of heritage and modern aesthetics.

A bold statement came from Leo Bartolome of Edited Limited and Adante Leyesa with their collection, “Tough Love.” Bartolome’s deconstructed streetwear designs combined effortlessly with Leyesa’s opulent, handcrafted accessories. The result was a powerful juxtaposition of rugged and luxurious styles.

FILIPINXT was not just a showcase of clothing—it was a movement to redefine the international perception of Filipino fashion. Filipino designers are known for their intricate craftsmanship but often remain underrepresented in global fashion circles. This event was a turning point, proving that Filipino talent deserves its place on the world stage.

“Our goal is to create a space where Filipino designers no longer need to fight for recognition,” said Mallari-D’Auria. “They deserve to be here, in this spotlight.”

The success of FILIPINXT at NYFW FW2025 is not just a milestone for the featured designers but for the entire Filipino fashion industry. By gracefully weaving tradition into progressive designs, the showcase opened doors for more Filipino creatives to gain the recognition they deserve.
