Usher Surprises Family with Unplanned Las Vegas Wedding
It seems like Usher’s family was taken aback by his recently announced Las Vegas wedding to record executive Jennifer Goicoechea, and they were heard saying things like “Oh, my God.”
He surprised his family with his marriage to Goicoechea, the famous “OMG” singer told Entertainment Tonight at Saturday night’s 55th NAACP Image Awards.
“It was a remarkable moment that we felt was perfect for us,” said the man. “It served as a fitting conclusion to an extraordinary stint in Las Vegas.”
“My mother, her mother, our children, and our close family were all present,” said the man. “Everyone was surprised, really. ‘Yes, we are actually having a wedding right now.’ I had to reassure them. Elvis Presley was our celebrant.
Jonetta Patton, the singer’s mother, reportedly served as a witness at the wedding, as reported by People.
“They both expressed their anticipation for continuing to nurture their children in a loving environment and extended their gratitude to everyone for the well wishes,” a spokeswoman for Usher said to the outlet after last month’s ceremony.
On February 11, following the singer’s thrilling halftime performance at the Super Bowl that same night, Usher and Goicoechea exchanged vows.
They started dating in 2019, and now they have a daughter, Sovereign Bo, who is three years old, and a son, Sire Castrello, who is two years old. In addition, Usher’s sons Naviyd and Usher V are the product of his marriage to Tameka Foster.
Among Usher’s many accolades at the NAACP Image Awards were the President’s Award and Entertainer of the Year for 2024.
Usher thanked the ladies who had a significant impact on his life during his acceptance speech for the second award.
“It’s often said that behind, beside, or with every strong man stands a stronger woman, and for that, I express my gratitude to my mother and my beautiful wife, Jennifer, for always supporting me,” said the man.
