The accusations that Charli XCX was involved in Britney Spears’ songwriting process were addressed by her during an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live” on Bravo. There had been rumors that the British singer-songwriter had written songs for Britney Spears, and now she had confirmed them. But even before Spears was involved, word got out about the initiative.

According to Charli XCX, Spears appeared to deny being involved in the process when she later posted that she doesn’t hire random people to compose for her. Charli XCX reasoned that Spears’ crew might have rushed the project because of this.

After Britney Spears announced her intention to divorce Sam Asghari in August, rumors began circulating that she was working on a new album. Rolling Stone said in January that Spears’ purported album featured contributions from Charli XCX and Julia Michaels, among others. On the other hand, Spears took to social media to dispel the allegations and announce that she was leaving the music profession for good.

Spears’ comments were in line with those in her memoir from 2023, in which she stated that advancing her music career was not her priority at that period. In spite of this, Charli XCX has said that she would consider a potential collaboration with Britney Spears a dream fulfilled.
