Lawyer For Dancers Suing Lizzo: Still embroiled in a legal battle with three of her former backup dancers, Lizzo, who sang “Truth Hurts” and declared, “I QUIT.” on Instagram last Friday, vented her frustrations.

The three former dancers of Lizzo—Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez—sued her last summer, claiming that she had created an unsafe workplace and harassed them sexually. Lizzo expressed her exhaustion from being entangled in the scandal with a mysterious Instagram post in reaction to the continuing court struggle.

In response to Lizzo’s article, the dancers’ lawyer Ron Zambrano denied that her client had been the victim of cyberbullying and accused her of trying to shift blame away from herself. In his criticism of Lizzo, Zambrano stressed that she should have taken responsibility for her actions and that her public relations and legal strategies had failed.

In the original August lawsuit, Lizzo was accused of sexual harassment, weight-shaming, and violent threats, among other offenses. A judge partially rejected some of the claims in February, even though Lizzo had requested the dismissal of the lawsuit and denied the accusations.

Zambrano persisted in calling Lizzo out on her bullying and harassment behavior, telling her to stop blaming other people and take responsibility for her actions. But Lizzo’s representative, Stefan Friedman, defended her against Zambrano’s claims, saying that Lizzo was innocent and drawing attention to the dismissal of a substantial part of the case.

Lizzo is appealing the verdict from February, and the legal struggle between her and her ex-dancers continues. While the case drags on, the public feud between the two sides highlights larger problems with harassment and accountability in the entertainment industry’s workplace.
