Kristen Wiig, host of “Saturday Night Live,” was welcomed into the “Five-Timers Club” by numerous celebrity guests during her opening monologue. Former “SNL” cast member Wiig was about to talk about how special it was to host the program for the sixth time when Paul Rudd, an audience member, cut her off.

Rudd wanted to know if a “Five-Timers” sketch including celebrity cameos was in the works, but Wiig told him that wasn’t the plan.

Wiig chatted with Paula Pell, a former writer for “SNL,” and saw Matt Damon, who was wearing a “Five-Timers” jacket, in the audience while the monologue went on. She brought up the fact that Damon has only hosted twice to cast doubt on his credentials.

Damon played it straight when he said that “SNL” creator Lorne Michaels regarded his first hosting gig as three times as wonderful, his second gig as two times as fantastic, and his third gig as a total of five.

Besides Michaels, other non-hosts who have worn “Five-Timers” jackets include former hosts Fred Armisen, Jon Hamm, Will Forte, and Martin Short.

Ryan Gosling, who will host the next episode, showed in wearing the “Five-Timers” jacket and asked Michaels three times if it was fair to wear it before hosting, after which the prior hosts got together to sing a song.
