Billie Eilish’s Choir Teacher: Even though Billie Eilish took home her second Oscar on Sunday, the true victor is her former choir teacher.

With their song “What Was I Made For?” from Barbie, Eilish and her brother Finneas O’Connell took home the Oscar for best original song.

Eilish mentioned two educators specifically in her winning speech.

Eilish thanked a teacher she simply called “Ms. T,” acknowledging that the instructor “didn’t like me, but you were good at your job,” and then she thanked Ms. Brigham for believing in her.

Eilish has been tight-lipped about “Ms. T’s” identity, but The Hollywood Reporter was able to locate Mandy Brigham, who was Eilish’s chorusmate when she was eight years old.

Bingham was disappointed not to hear Eilish’s gratitude in real time since she was attending the Indian Wells Tennis Open while the Oscars were being televised.

But “more text messages than I’ve ever received in my life” alerted Bingham to the situation in no time, as she explained to the media outlet.

She said that she “never expected anything like that would ever happen to me” and described herself as “flabbergasted” by the public acclaim that Eilish received.

According to Bingham, it meant a lot to her that Eilish recalled her faith in the young vocalist.

“To a teacher, that is the highest form of praise.”
