Cynthia Rowley returned to New York Fashion Week on Tuesday night with her brand-new Spring/Summer 2023 collection. The runway display in Wagner Park in Battery Park City began just before sunset despite the fact that the day had begun with scattered rains and cloud cover across Manhattan. One model after another emerged on a mirrored catwalk, strutting in the collection that emphasised Rowley’s signature style: girly-meets-sporty with a side of flashy hues, metallic wetsuits, rugby-inspired outfits, sequin football jerseys, cargo silhouettes of the ’90s and ’00s, and texture galore. The collection was set against a backdrop of Lady Liberty.

Following the show, Rowley discussed the SS 23 collection with Town & Country, saying, “I think the things that are consistent with us is the pretty-meets-sporty and how these two really disparate ideas coexist, and everything that happens in between is really what I think makes us who we are as a brand.” “Having those two things is incredibly motivating. “Color is really important to me and the joy that colour can bring, so I like experimenting with that [too],” added Rowley. “It really gives me a lot of freedom to have everything in between and experiment with things. “I believe that when the pandemic first ended, colour played a significant role. Then all those colours and metallics come as the next progression of that.

When asked about this year’s NYFW, the renowned fashion designer expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to exhibit in New York City. “Even though I moved here a very long time ago, the city never ceases to amaze me. Rowley continued, “And every day I learn something new, experience something new, and see something new. “The whole location was such an integral element of the whole process. When we put on a show, I consider more than just the costumes; I also consider how everyone who attends and everyone who views the photos will feel. To reflect and improve the environment where we were, I wanted the music, the backdrop, and the mirrored runway. However, we were joking that the catwalk would become a 100-foot slip and slide if it rained.
