Burton has appointed Caroline Brown, the former global brand president of The North Face, to its board of directors as the Vermont-based snowboard company looks to build on its 50-year legacy and strengthen its position in the outdoor and lifestyle markets.
Brown brings extensive experience across fashion, retail and brand management. Her previous leadership roles include chief executive officer of Donna Karan International and DKNY, president of Carolina Herrera, and U.S. chief executive of Akris. She has also served as managing director at New York-based investment firm Closed Loop Partners.
Brown left The North Face in March after less than two years in the role.
Burton Welcomes Leadership and Brand Expertise
Donna Carpenter, Burton’s owner and board chair, said Brown’s experience across performance products, fashion, innovation and culture would be valuable as the company develops its next phase of growth.
Carpenter highlighted Brown’s ability to preserve the authenticity of established brands while helping them evolve, attract new customers and remain culturally relevant.
She also praised Brown’s strategic thinking, curiosity and leadership qualities, expressing enthusiasm about her joining the board.
Brown said she was excited to contribute to Burton’s future, describing the company as deeply rooted in snowboarding culture, authenticity and a strong connection with riders.
She added that Burton’s commitment to its purpose and community had helped establish a distinctive brand, and she looked forward to supporting its next 50 years.

Burton Enters Its Next Chapter
Founded in 1977 by the late Jack Burton Carpenter in a barn in Vermont, Burton has grown into a major snowboarding company. Its product range includes snowboards, boots, bindings, outerwear, layering apparel, bags and accessories, as well as clothing designed for year-round use.
Brown’s appointment follows another leadership change at the company. Last month, Burton named Denny Bruce chief executive officer, succeeding Donna Carpenter, who had served as interim CEO since June.
The addition of Brown to the board brings further executive experience in fashion and outdoor brands as Burton prepares for its next stage of development.
