The last day of the Cannes Film Festival, is the Closing Ceremony. The winners of the Film Festival are announced and awarded. After the award ceremony is over, a gala dinner takes place followed by an after party with the participation of winners and the world of cinema

The Palme d’Or, which the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival, was awarded Saturday to “Parasite,” directed by the South Korean director Bong Joon-ho. This is the first time that a South Korean movie has won this prestigious award. The Grand Prix, or second prize was awarded  to the French-Senegalese filmmaker Mati Diop for her feature debut “Atlantics.” Mati Diop is the first black woman to win an award for a movie here. The Jury Prize (third prize) was shared between  “Les Misérables” by Ladj Ly, and  “Bacurau” by Kleber Mendonça Filho and Juliano Dornelles.  A “special mention” was made for “It Must Be Heaven,” by director, Elia Suleiman.

The best director, was awarded to Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne for “Young Ahmed.”Céline Sciamma won the best screenplay prize for “Portrait of a Lady on Fire.” The best actor was won by Antonio Banderas for the movie “Pain and Glory” and the best actress was presented to Emily Beecham, the star of “Little Joe.”
