Bulgari opens new Serpenti Infinito Exhibition in Shanghai
When art, luxury, and cultural symbolism intertwine, the results can be mesmerizing. Bulgari has achieved precisely that with its groundbreaking “Serpenti Infinito Exhibition” in Shanghai. Hosted in the historic Zhangyuan district, the event coincides with the Chinese Year of the Snake—an exquisite nod to the serpent as a universal symbol of transformation, renewal, and endless possibilities. Running from January 9 to February 16, 2025, the exhibition delivers an immersive exploration of history, craftsmanship, and modern artistry, all unified under Bulgari’s iconic Serpenti motif.
The exhibition captures the timeless allure of the serpent through an impressive display of art and innovation. Featuring 28 exceptional works by 19 renowned artists, the collection celebrates the serpent’s influence across various cultures. Significantly, 11 pieces were specially commissioned for the event, demonstrating Bulgari’s commitment to fostering creative boundaries.
Among the highlights is Refik Anadol’s “Infinito: AI Data Sculpture”, an awe-inspiring three-dimensional installation set within a reflective 360-degree mirrored room. This digital masterpiece invites viewers on a journey through the perpetual transformations embodied by the serpent, a motif steeped in mystery and reinvention. When asked about his creation, Anadol remarked, “Art should make us feel connected to something larger than ourselves,” striking at the heart of the exhibition’s purpose.
The “Serpenti Infinito Exhibition” is carefully organized into three thematic chapters, each offering a distinct lens into the significance of the serpent.

1. “Crafting Serpents in History” unveils how serpents have been meticulously depicted in art and myth across eras, capturing their eternal presence as symbols of wisdom and power.

2. “Snakes in the Arts” examines how artists over centuries, from antiquity to the modern day, have portrayed these enigmatic creatures.

3. “Contemporary Transformations” celebrates cutting-edge interpretations of the serpent in art and design, spotlighting modern innovation and technology.
Each chapter weaves a seamless narrative, illustrating how the serpent continues to inspire and evolve with time.

The exhibition commenced in grand fashion with a cocktail party hosted by Bulgari CEO Jean-Christophe Babin, attended by over 350 distinguished guests. Among them were Andrew Wu, LVMH’s Greater China President, and Tiziana D’Angelo, Italy’s Consul General in Shanghai. Exhibition curator Cao Dan provided profound insights into the artistic vision, guiding guests through the event’s meticulous curation.
“The Serpenti theme captures the essence of transformation, resilience, and creativity,” Babin noted during his opening remarks. “It’s an honor to celebrate this motif in Shanghai, a city deeply rooted in cultural reinvention.”
Bulgari extended the magic of the Serpenti theme far beyond Shanghai. At Bulgari Hotels & Resorts worldwide, dedicated Serpenti Suites were unveiled, featuring interiors inspired by the serpent motif. These sanctuaries, marrying heritage and modernity, gave travelers a chance to immerse themselves in Bulgari’s world of art and luxury.
In Shanghai, hotel guests also had access to a virtual reality experience of the exhibition from January 9 to 11, 2025. The innovative VR setup allowed remote visitors to explore the exhibit in extraordinary detail, ensuring no one missed this enchanting tribute to the serpent.
The “Serpenti Infinito Exhibition” underscores why Bulgari’s Serpenti motif has become a timeless emblem of elegance, mystery, and transformation. By merging ancient symbolism with pioneering artistry, the Roman jeweler has once again proven its ability to connect tradition and innovation.
From Refik Anadol’s stunning AI sculpture to the thoughtfully curated chapters, Bulgari has crafted an exhibition that resonates across cultural, aesthetic, and emotional realms. Whether you explore it in person or through its global touchpoints, the experience is a celebration of creativity in its most profound form—a reminder of the serpent’s enduring power to inspire renewal and reinvention.
For those in Shanghai or seekers of transcendent artistic expression, Bulgari’s “Serpenti Infinito Exhibition” offers an unforgettable journey into a world where luxury and symbolism intertwine seamlessly.
