Anne Hathaway Reveals She Had A Miscarriage: Recently, Anne Hathaway opened up about her miscarriage in 2015, which she had while performing as a midwife in a play.

The 41-year-old actress opened out about the traumatic experience she had while performing in and producing her solo off-Broadway production, “Grounded,” which ran for six weeks at New York’s Public Theater, in an interview published Monday by Vanity Fair.

Julia Taymor’s “Grounded” dramatized “the life of a female fighter pilot in the Middle East whose unexpected pregnancy ends her career in the sky,” according to the play’s synopsis.

Hathaway said, “The first time being pregnant didn’t work out for me” as she reflected on the challenge. Onstage childbirth was an integral part of my play. When her friends came to see her backstage at the theater, the Oscar winner felt forced to tell them the truth about the miscarriage because the loss was so devastating.

“It was too much to keep it in when I was onstage pretending everything was fine,” said the actress. “I had to keep it real otherwise.”

In an Instagram post announcing her second pregnancy in 2019, Hathaway addressed her infertility issues. She captioned the pregnancy photo, “It’s not for a movie…”#2. Putting aside the seriousness of the matter, I want everyone going through infertility or conception hell to know that my journey to becoming a mother was anything but linear. Extra love is on its way to you.

While speaking with Vanity Fair about her Instagram post, the “Dark Knight Rises” actress reflected on how disingenuous it would have felt to hide her struggles. “Given the pain I felt while trying to get pregnant, it would’ve felt disingenuous to post something all the way happy when I know the story is much more nuanced than that for everyone,” said the woman.

“I wasn’t going to feel ashamed of something that seemed to me statistically to actually be quite normal,” according to Hathaway.

After marrying Adam Shulman in September 2012, Anne Hathaway became a mother to two kids, Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman and Jack Shulman.
