Johanna Ortiz looked at the many things people carry—children, belongings, memories, gestures, and traditions—and turned the idea into a collection about inheritance. The designer explored what is passed from one generation to another, what remains meaningful over time, and how those elements can be transformed into something new.
The collection was presented at La Maison de l’Amérique Latine on Paris’s Boulevard Saint-Germain, a setting that reinforced its connection to Latin American culture. The historic interiors and garden created the atmosphere of an intimate home rather than a conventional runway venue, with models moving through the rooms as guests watched from around them.
Ortiz translated the idea of carrying into clothing through draped silhouettes, sculptural shapes, and pieces that wrapped and gathered around the body. Fluid dresses and elegant separates emphasized movement, while carefully constructed details gave the collection a sense of craftsmanship and continuity.
The collection also reflected Ortiz’s Colombian heritage through its rich sense of femininity and celebration. Prints, texture, intricate embellishment, and flowing fabrics brought depth to the looks, while dramatic proportions and expressive silhouettes gave familiar wardrobe pieces a more distinctive character.
Music and ritual were also central to the presentation. Colombian musician Aria Vega provided the live soundtrack and opened the show with an Amazonian ritual intended to clear negative energy, reinforcing the collection’s interest in traditions that survive through generations.
Rather than treating inheritance as something fixed, Ortiz presented it as something that can evolve. Spring 2027 connected personal memory, cultural tradition, craftsmanship, and contemporary fashion, creating a collection that felt deeply rooted in where the designer comes from while remaining firmly part of the modern wardrobe.
