Rain arrived in Paris just ahead of Stella McCartney’s Spring 2027 show, creating an appropriately atmospheric backdrop for a collection inspired by the ocean and the natural world.
After weeks of unusually dry weather in the French capital, the showers cleared just in time for models including Karlie Kloss and Amber Valletta to walk the runway. The show opened with a prologue from Sir David Attenborough’s documentary Ocean, setting the tone with the reminder that “the most important place on earth is not on land.”
Shark imagery appeared throughout the set, reinforcing McCartney’s focus on marine life and environmental awareness.
The weather also added an unscripted moment to the afternoon. Jennifer Lopez waited under an umbrella as the show’s start time was pushed more than an hour behind schedule.
A Front Row Focused on Nature
McCartney’s environmental message extended beyond the runway, with several guests sharing connections to conservation and animal advocacy.
Actress Juliette Binoche, who has portrayed Coco Chanel, praised McCartney’s approach and described her as a figure deeply engaged with nature and wider social issues.
“I’m not a great analyst, I just know that I love what she does,” Binoche said after the show. “She’s a woman of awareness, of nature, of what’s going on in this society, and I think it’s very important. She brings it. She’s an icon.”
British comedian Diane Morgan was also among the front-row guests. Known for playing the fictional documentary presenter Philomena Cunk in Netflix’s Cunk on Earth, Morgan has worked with animal-rights organizations in the U.K. and shares an advocacy connection with McCartney.
Asked whether she could eventually become the next real-life Attenborough, Morgan joked: “Absolutely. It’s just a matter of time.”
For Morgan, the experience also marked a return to an industry she once knew from a different perspective. She revealed that she worked as a dresser years ago, making her appearance on the front row a very different fashion-show experience.
