If you ask me, spring is the sweetest season. There are signs of renewal and rebirth everywhere you look, from tulips poking out of the soil to the sun finally showing its face past five o’clock. Pastels match the optimism in the air—even when they’re done in small doses, like a flowery French tip or a lavender square nail, proving that even the tiniest manicure details can capture the magic of the season.

For spring 2026, pastel nail colors have gotten a modern update with chrome, cat-eye, and translucent milky finishes. The new wave of pastels is airy and elevated, not sugary sweet like past seasons. Even cutesy design details, like polka dots and flowers, look crisp and clean thanks to nude accent nails, jelly finishes, and a mix of warm and cool tones in each design. “Modern pastels are slightly muted, sometimes with a gray, milky, or powdery base,” nail artist Olha Shtanhei. “Instead of sugary, candy-like tones, this season we’re seeing softened shades with cool undertones.”

Ahead, find 11 short pastel nail designs for spring that toe the line between sophisticated and sweet.
