Titled “Guillotine” and staged inside a church in New York, the setting established the central tension before a single look appeared. Rebellion placed inside tradition. Authority and resistance occupying the same space. It’s a visual metaphor that runs through the entire lineup without ever needing to be spelled out.
Creative director Can Tran doesn’t abandon the brand’s punk DNA — he disciplines it. Punk here isn’t loud or messy. It’s calculated. Elongated coats, sharpened silhouettes and vertical lines carry an almost blade-like precision. Harness details and engineered closures read as restraint rather than chaos. Graphics — once central to the Boy London identity — are deployed sparingly, allowing construction to carry the weight instead. The shift from distortion to control is the collection’s defining move, and it’s a confident one.
Historical references add depth without becoming costume. Medieval influences surface subtly in proportion and detailing, while classic menswear keeps the collection grounded in familiarity. The interplay creates a kind of modern formalism — traditional tailoring as the framework through which subversion quietly operates.
What makes the collection compelling is how it handles the archive. Rather than recycling past symbols, Tran extracts their essence and rebuilds it for the present moment. The argument being made is that rebellion doesn’t have to tear things apart to mean something — it can reshape them with clarity and purpose and be more powerful for the restraint.
At 50 years, Boy London America isn’t trying to out-shock or out-noise the industry. It’s doing something more interesting and more difficult: demonstrating that controlled rebellion can cut deeper than the loud kind.
