“Having a great sense of style also includes how well you’re able to love yourself, and the ease at which you balance your ego and your spirit.”
RuPaul’s latest book is more than a style guide -- it’s a testament of self-empowerment. Besides offering tips about fashion and make-up, this book, most importantly, discusses owning your look. The infamous drag queen’s new book is the key accessory to Ru’s hit show RuPaul’s Drag Race.
On Drag Race, RuPaul mentors aspiring drag queens amid their competition challenges. Contestants have to create drag costumes and strut in a runway show. The bottom two contestants then have to lip-synch for their lives in a showdown. The winner gets to “Shante and stay,” and the loser must “Sashay away.” Since the early 90s, RuPaul has been entertaining us with performing talents in music, film, and television. It’s a pleasure to see the new chapter in RuPaul’s career as a motivational author, who encourages us to “rise up and be fierce!” Pick up Workin’ It! in stores now and watch RuPaul’s Drag Race, Mondays at 9pm on Logo.
